Rating: Adam Sandlers Grown Ups 2, the sequel to 2010. The only thread of plot that Grown Ups 2 attempts to accomplish is getting all the main and supporting characters together for a big party at Sandler’s house and an on going battle with a group of frat guys led by everybody’s favorite shirtless werewolf, Taylor Lautner (The Twilight Saga). The women are there to harp about wanting more babies, to change the babies' diapers, go to the gym (with their baby), and play mom to not only their kids but to their man-child husbands as well. Grown Ups 2 Review: A tone-dead, thematically vague film with nothing to say. There are fart jokes, pee jokes, '80s jokes, old age jokes, ethnic jokes, gay jokes, sight gags, fatty fall down ( that means you Kevin James), pretty much the whole checklist of stale yuks. Otherwise, the film's just interminably dull and uninvolving. There are three credited screenwriters on this, including Sandler, and I can count on one hand the number of times that I came passably close to cracking a smile. Its basically Adam Sandler shrugging his. podcast with a remarkably simple and twisted premise: two comedians watch and review. Grown Ups 2 isnt as demoralizing as Grown Ups mostly because we knew what we were in for, but partly because it at least embraces its awfulness.

They've gone the same route of playing bland, suburban schmoes that previously did in the likes of Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy. See an archive of all grown ups 2 stories published on Vulture. Sure, it builds to a big 80s party at the end, and theres some conflict along the way, but similarly to Magic Mike XXL, which this shares some kindred energy with, Grown Ups 2 is about. The four principals may have been (and can occasionally still be) really funny once, but you'd never know it from watching either of the Grown Ups films. This strips away the baseline plot concerns of the first film, so much so that Grown Ups 2 feels like a rejection of the necessities of three act structure.

Inert, dull, and, worst of all for a comedy, unfunny, the sequel is chock full of tired, dumb jokes and pretty lame slapstick. There was nothing remotely notable about 2010s Grown Ups, and now we have a sequel thats even lazier. As you can see, this isn't the densest of plots.
